Dr. Brown, State Medical Entomologist, Discussed Bed Bug Problems.

Feb. 3, 2012 - Dr. Brown shares his Bed Bug Presentation with Biomedical students.  Eradicated in the 1950's, the bed bug has returned with a vengeance.  Having turned on three genes, this insect is immune to insecticides.  Dr. Brown discussed methods of trying to control this pest.  This topic connects our students with real world problems and exemplifies the relevance of their own research with Wolbachia, a bacteria that has been used as a biological control with mosquitoes in areas infested with malaria.
